چکیده
This paper presents the rationale for the use of method of moments for evaluation of electromagnetic field scattered by dielectric random fractal surfaces. Derivation of the algorithm is given along with a reliable fractal profile generation procedure. Choice of key parameters pertinent to method of moments is also discussed. Numerical results are finally used to investigate the behaviour of the electromagnetic scattering from fractal surfaces. Sea Surfaces Scattering by Multi-Order Small-Slope Approximation: a Monte-Carlo and Analytical Comparison
L-band electromagnetic scattering from two-dimensional random rough sea surfaces are calculated by first- and second-order Small-Slope Approximation (SSA1, 2) methods. Both analytical and numerical computations are utilized to calculate incoherent normalized radar cross-section (NRCS) in mono- and bi-static cases. For evaluating inverse Fourier transform, inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) i...
متن کاملA Numerical Simulation of Scattering from One-Dimensional Inhomogeneous Dielectric Random Surfaces - Geoscience and Remote Sensing, IEEE Transactions on
In this paper, an efficient numerical solution for the scattering problem of inhomogeneous dielectric rough surfaces is presented. The inhomogeneous dielectric random surface represents a bare soil surface and is considered to be comprised of a large number of randomly positioned dielectric humps of different sizes, shapes, and dielectric constants above an impedance surface. Clods with nonunif...

متن کاملAn Improved Numerical Method for Scattering from Dielectric Rough Surfaces
The need for numerical methods in studying electromagnetic scattering from rough surfaces is well established. The most commonly used numerical method is the surface integral equation method and its solution by the method of moments (MoM). Conventional implementation of MoM requires O(N^3) operations, where N is the number of surface unknowns. When N is large, as frequently encountered in study...
متن کاملA New Guideline for the Allocation of Multipoles in the Multiple Multipole Method for Two Dimensional Scattering from Dielectrics
A new guideline for proper allocation of multipoles in the multiple multipole method (MMP) is proposed. In an ‘a posteriori’ approach, subspace fitting (SSF) is used to find the best location of multipole expansions for the two dimensional dielectric scattering problem. It is shown that the best location of multipole expansions (regarding their global approximating power) coincides with the med...
